People traveling by air will not have to take their shoes off during security screenings in the future.
Earlier passengers traveling through air had to remove their shoes for the security checks but now they will not be required to do so as confirmed by Napolitano. There would definitely be restrictions on the amount of liquids passengers carrying while traveling on a plane because as of now there is no technology to detect between explosives and harmless liquids.
Passengers traveling through air have shown their discomfort with the security checks after September 11.It has been suggested that suspected passengers who are traveling by air should only be asked to remove the shoes. The U.S. security checks required shoes to be taken off after Richard Reid who was traveling in plane attempted to set off explosives concealed in his shoes.

Billie Joe Armstrong who is the lead singer of the band Green Day was denied to board a Southwest Airlines flight from Oakland to Burbank. The incident took place on Thursday when Armstrong who was dressed in saggy pants headed to board the flight only to have a flight attendant stopping him and insisting to pull up his pants.
Armstrong voiced out all his frustration through a post on twitter stating how he was kicked off a Southwest flight because of his saggy pants.
As described by one of the eyewitness, the flight was about to take off when the singer boarded the flight. As soon as he took his seat, he was asked to set his pants right but Armstrong asked the stewardess to worry about more serious issues still she insisted and later he was asked to get down the flight.
Soon after Southwest came to know who Armstrong was, he was offered to re seated in a later flight and the airlines apologized.

With the approach of the 10th anniversary of September 11 attacks, U.S.A government has already alerted its citizens for traveling worldwide. The traveling alert cautions the citizens of USA against the continuous threats from Al Qaeda and other extremist groups.
Though the State department haven't cited or identified any specific threats, they have taken precautionary measures by issuing alerts to their entire USA citizen traveling or residing abroad, since the attacks usually coincide with specific dates according to past experience.
These warnings against traveling are issued by the USA government, in the wake of the 10th anniversary of 9/11 along with the death of Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden in May this year.
A heightened state of vigilance is in place in the USA, but the officials have urged traveling citizens to remain alert for any threats.

Passengers travelling coach class on flights to the USA, from Canada, on Air Canada, will have to pay a fee for checked in bags. Now flights to the USA will attract a fee of $25 on the first checked bag. This will be brought into effect on all tickets for flights to the USA purchased on or after 7th September and for travelling on or after 11th October.
The baggage fee for a second bag remains unaltered at $35. According to Peter Fitzpatrick, spokesperson for Air Canada, this fee is in keeping abreast of rising aviation costs and to sustain the carrier. Earlier like other carriers Air Canada had waived bag fees for the first two bags on flights to USA for its elite passengers and those travelling first class.
At the moment Air Canada's two domestic competitors, WestJet and Porter are allowing one checked bag without any extra cost for all transborder flights to the USA.

Travelling has never been easier with the Internet offering various services which were unavailable before. These services cater to all the needs while travelling, right from directions and maps to airfares and car rentals.
For the planning stage of travelling, Bing Travel takes the limelight because of its ability to compare ticket prices and also to analyze the history of ticket prices and go for better bargains. AutoSlash is another such useful site while travelling since it allows the users to reserve a vehicle from some agency and then it tracks the rate charges by the agency. As soon as some deal comes along it automatically upgrades itself to that lower price reservation. The travelling website befrugal.com helps people find out whether their travel by car or flight will be cheaper. It gives estimates based on the current fuel prices, car model, flight prices and more.
Another site called Plnnr.com will provide an entire itinerary for a trip depending on the duration of stay, level of activity and areas of interest. This service is only available in North America and Europe though.

Because the country of Lebanon is on the "travel warning list" issued by the US Department of State, Harvard University does not fund undergraduate student travel to the country or provide credit to students studying there.

The college says that in order to protect its individual travelers and itself as an institution, it must follow State Department advisories to determine whether to support student travel to countries in question. But some argue that following State Department policy does not allow enough flexibility for consideration of individual student circumstances. Some students think that a release form with the parents' consent should be enough if there is an awareness of the situation in a given country and knowledge of the possible implications of traveling there. The College's policy does support students traveling if they are under their parents' or guardians' care in the destination country, however.
