Passengers travelling coach class on flights to the USA, from Canada, on Air Canada, will have to pay a fee for checked in bags. Now flights to the USA will attract a fee of $25 on the first checked bag. This will be brought into effect on all tickets for flights to the USA purchased on or after 7th September and for travelling on or after 11th October.
The baggage fee for a second bag remains unaltered at $35. According to Peter Fitzpatrick, spokesperson for Air Canada, this fee is in keeping abreast of rising aviation costs and to sustain the carrier. Earlier like other carriers Air Canada had waived bag fees for the first two bags on flights to USA for its elite passengers and those travelling first class.
At the moment Air Canada's two domestic competitors, WestJet and Porter are allowing one checked bag without any extra cost for all transborder flights to the USA.

Travelling has never been easier with the Internet offering various services which were unavailable before. These services cater to all the needs while travelling, right from directions and maps to airfares and car rentals.
For the planning stage of travelling, Bing Travel takes the limelight because of its ability to compare ticket prices and also to analyze the history of ticket prices and go for better bargains. AutoSlash is another such useful site while travelling since it allows the users to reserve a vehicle from some agency and then it tracks the rate charges by the agency. As soon as some deal comes along it automatically upgrades itself to that lower price reservation. The travelling website befrugal.com helps people find out whether their travel by car or flight will be cheaper. It gives estimates based on the current fuel prices, car model, flight prices and more.
Another site called Plnnr.com will provide an entire itinerary for a trip depending on the duration of stay, level of activity and areas of interest. This service is only available in North America and Europe though.
